# Institution search

> Discover and track academic institutions, explore their research output, and identify collaboration opportunities

Freiya's institution search helps you discover academic institutions, explore their research contributions, and track organizations relevant to your field.

## Overview

The institution search feature provides access to a comprehensive database of universities, research institutes, and academic organizations worldwide.

**Use cases:**

* Find institutions working in your research area
* Track affiliation changes of authors
* Identify collaboration opportunities
* Research institutional rankings and output
* Discover where key researchers work

## Searching for institutions

### Basic search

**Search features:**

* Auto-complete suggestions
* Fuzzy matching (handles typos)
* Multi-language support
* Instant results

  Try searching by location too: "universities in Boston" or "research institutes Germany"

### Advanced filters

Narrow results with filters:

**Filter options:**

* **Country/Region** - Geographic location
* **Institution type** - University, research institute, etc.
* **Research areas** - Fields of study
* **Size** - By student/researcher count
* **Publication volume** - Number of papers published

**Sort options:**

* Relevance (default when searching)
* Publication count (high to low)
* Citation count (high to low)
* h-index (high to low)

    Our data refreshes monthly. If information is significantly outdated:

    * Report the issue through feedback
    * Check the institution's official website
    * Data may lag for very recent changes

  <Accordion title="Wrong institution logo/info">
    We aggregate data from multiple sources. Report inaccuracies:

    * Use "Report Issue" button on institution profile
    * Provide correct information and source
    * We'll review and update

  <Accordion title="Can't find a researcher">
    Researcher databases are limited:

    * Not all researchers are indexed
    * Try searching publications and checking authors
    * Look for their personal/department website
    * More comprehensive researcher data coming
